According to authorities in South Carolina, A drive-by shooting at a high school graduation party killed a woman and wounded seven others this weekend, as the nation’s violent crime continues to surge.

Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley told news outlets that about 150 people were at a party near the town of Summerton when the shooting started at around 11 p.m. Saturday.

The sheriff noted that the shooting may have been gang-related but was unsure if any victims had been specifically targeted.

Audrionna Kind, 32, of Summerton, died Sunday, Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell said.

GoFundMe has been created in Kind’s memory by her cousin, Alonso Felder.

“I’m going to miss everything about her, everything,” Felder told Fox Carolina News.

The majority of the victims who were wounded were teenagers, ranging from ages 12 to 17.

Witnesses told Columbia, South Carolina affiliate WLTX that two vehicles approached the crowd, and gunfire followed. According to the report, the sheriff’s department counted between 60 and 70 shell casings at the scene.

Baxley said, “We are and will continue to work on this incident until arrests are made for the persons responsible.”

He continued, “These acts of violence cannot continue. Innocent children and adults are suffering the consequences of these acts!”

Saturday’s shooting was one of several over the weekend, including one in Philadelphia that left three dead and 11 wounded and one in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in which three people were killed and 14 injured.
