I had the opportunity and privilege to share at Radiant Church where we explored the question of whether or not Christians maintain their sin nature once they are born again.

Sadly, many today believe that they are doomed to sin everyday because of their human or sin nature.  We believe the commonly recited phrase that “Nobody’s Perfect.”  Yet, there was a man who was.  A man who was not conceived with sinful seed.  A man who lived a faultless life according to the law.  He did not deserve to receive the wages of sin which was death.  However, He willingly took the harvest that sin produces on behalf of every man, woman, and child.  In exchange He offers us His life.  For our lives to be made one with His perfect life.

We don’t achieve perfection by producing the fruit that God requires.  We receive perfection by grace through faith in the finished work of the cross.  Through rebirth, the Spirit of God transforms our nature from sinful to righteous.  The tree is made good so that it can produce good fruit.

For one growing up in church, they could get the idea that sanctification is a process. That one becomes holier the closer he adheres to God's law and commandments now that they have received the free gift of salvation. However, righteousness is completely free! It is available to us through the finished work of Christ. It is all His doing. All His work! None of our own, lest we should boast. This is good news!
