Judges 6:15 – So he said to Him, “Oh my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

Now we come to the “how?” question. How is this going to happen? This is where we can get stymied for some time. We look at the odds and say:

“No Way! It’s not possible. How could this ever come true even on my best day?”

But when God declared victory to Gideon, He didn’t ask Gideon how Gideon would accomplish the victory. You see God already had the “how?” figured out. He wasn’t seeking advice or instruction of Gideon. He wasn’t looking to Gideon for strategy. He declared victory and that by the hand of Gideon. God qualified Gideon before he was born. God had a better opinion of Gideon’s character than Gideon had of himself. God chose a man who saw himself as the least to glorify him to be the greatest in all the land. God wasn’t leaving the strategy to Gideon. Gideon was God’s strategy. God had it all figured out before He approached Gideon. All Gideon had to do was say “yes.” He simply had to agree with God and make himself available to be a vessel to be used by God.

What has God called you to do or to be? Have you gotten stuck in the “how?” Stop worrying about how God’s promises will come to pass and focus on He who has promised. When we stand in faith, we give God an opportunity to prove Himself faithful.

For one growing up in church, they could get the idea that sanctification is a process. That one becomes holier the closer he adheres to God's law and commandments now that they have received the free gift of salvation. However, righteousness is completely free! It is available to us through the finished work of Christ. It is all His doing. All His work! None of our own, lest we should boast. This is good news!
