Psalm 13:1 – Oh Lord, how long will you forget me?  Forever? …  2 How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul and sorrow in my heart every day… (while) my enemy has the upper hand?  3 Turn and answer me, oh Lord my God!  4 Don’t let my enemies gloat… Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.  5 But I will trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.  6 I was sing because He is good to me.

Do not say I have forgotten you, for you are not forgotten.  What has been forgotten is your sin – your failures and your shortcomings.  Do not believe that I’ve forgotten you, for I am with you says the Lord.  With you always – even until the end.  I will never leave or forsake you.  I am for you.  Who can be against you?  I have defeated all who were and are against you.  The war has been decided and it is in our favor.

Lift up your heart and soul.  Why should you be downcast?  For in a little while that which has been promised will come.  In that day your enemies will hang their heads in shame.  In that day, I will exalt you in the midst of your struggle that all may see and know that I the Lord am alive and that I am your God.  In that day I will glorify my son so that I might receive much glory in turn from them.

Trust in me, and find that my love will never fail you.  I have already rescued you.  Though you wait for the victory, take heart for your victory is guaranteed and assured.  For this victory is mine says the Lord your redeemer.  Rejoice and be glad, for I am good.  And in my goodness, I love to give good gifts to my children.  Will you receive from my hand?  Will you rejoice even in your long-suffering?  For at the right time I will bring everything together under the Lordship of Christ.  Rejoice and be glad for you are part of my perfect plan!

For one growing up in church, they could get the idea that sanctification is a process. That one becomes holier the closer he adheres to God's law and commandments now that they have received the free gift of salvation. However, righteousness is completely free! It is available to us through the finished work of Christ. It is all His doing. All His work! None of our own, lest we should boast. This is good news!
