John 14:13 – “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
The name of Jesus is not a magic word. What is important is what His name (I AM) means, and you’re position in Him that gives you the authority to stand in and use that name. We have authority to use His name. He’s given us power of attorney to speak and act on His behalf. This authorization is based on the new covenant that we enter into by faith. The covenant is not based on our work. In fact, it is more like a trust that we’ve become the beneficiaries of. He is the grantor (the one who initiated the trust), and He is the trustee. As trustee He works for the benefit of the beneficiary. As beneficiaries we ask the trustee for access to the property or funds in the trust that we need (i.e. healing, salvation, victory, deliverance, vindication, money, etc.). As trustee, He signs off on the benefits with His name. Yet, He also gives the beneficiaries power of attorney to use His name to make our requests known. We have check-signing privileges.
He was the victor of the battle over sin and death, which entitled Him to the spoils. His inheritance is the spoils of the war. Through trust, He granted that inheritance to us. Making us one with Him in regard to the benefits/spoils. But He alone was the grantor/trustee. Part of the trust agreement was that He gave us power of attorney to act on His behalf to share the spoils of his victory and to enlarge His kingdom. We are His agents or ambassadors on earth to acquire more property for the trust and to add additional beneficiaries.
It’s all legal and legally enforceable because the Father is the judge. The trust is fully established. Jesus has won legal title to everything. We get to repossess what is rightfully His/ours, because the devil is trespassing. Without an intimate relationship with the trustee, we fail to enjoy the fullness of the benefits that are rightfully ours as beneficiaries.
This is GOOD NEWS! Especially when you realize that the legal part is done. The title belongs to the Son(s). We’re just awaiting the repossession of the property that the enemy is squatting on. Many times, the enemy gains access to the property, because we fail to secure it as our own. For example – joy. It is our portion, our inheritance. Yet the enemy comes and squats on the property – our joy – illegally. When he squats on our joy, when joy is removed from our lives, the resulting transaction is: sorrow, fear, depression, weakness. Every negative is only the absence of a positive. It looks like something real that exists (i.e. sorrow), but in reality, it only exists because the positive (joy) is missing.
