You can only replace them with truth.

That could become a major section.

The goal is not:

Stop thinking bad thoughts!

It’s:

Expose the lie and replace it with what God says.

For example:

“We’re going to run out.”

Not merely:

“Don’t think negatively.”

Instead:

“The Lord is my shepherd. My Father knows what I need. He didn’t withhold His Son from me. I trust Him.”

Fear:

“Something terrible might happen.”

Truth:

“God is with me. I am not abandoned. Whatever comes, nothing can separate me from His love.”

Condemnation:

“God must be disappointed in me.”

Truth:

“There is now no condemnation in Christ.”

This also connects very naturally with your earlier Matthew 17 discussion.

Perhaps unbelief isn’t merely failure to possess enough spiritual enthusiasm.

It can be an entrenched way of seeing—a mindset that continues interpreting reality independently of God.

Which is why prayer, fasting, renewing the mind, abiding, and identity could all belong in the same conversation.

Persistence does not mean striving harder to believe

This is another place Neville’s language is useful once corrected.

“Persist in the assumption.”

Christianized:

Persist in Truth.

When circumstances contradict it:

Return to Truth.

When fear returns:

Return to Truth.

When disappointment comes:

Return to Truth.

When feelings protest:

Return to Truth.

Not frantically.

Not through force.

Not:

“I HAVE TO BELIEVE HARDER!”

But by abiding.

You wrote elsewhere:

Return to Jesus.

Return to union and communion.

Return to abiding.

And:

“This returning is prayer.”

I think that’s one of the finest concepts in this entire body of notes.

Prayer may be the continual returning of consciousness to God.

“Pray without ceasing” then becomes much richer than uninterrupted verbal prayer.

It is living relationally aware of Him.

Faith produces rest

This may be your conclusion.

If I genuinely believe:

God is good;

God loves me;

God is present;

I am His;

He speaks;

He provides;

I am in Christ;

Christ is in me;

I don’t bear responsibility for controlling every outcome;

then eventually something happens in me:

I stop striving.

That doesn’t mean I stop working.

It means the work no longer originates in panic.

Your notes say:

“Relaxation is not laziness. It is faith embodied.”

That’s worth preserving.

Perhaps:

Rest is what faith feels like when it no longer needs visible evidence.

Or:

Peace is not evidence that the circumstance has changed. It may be evidence that I have.

And then thanksgiving follows naturally.

Jesus could thank the Father before Lazarus emerged.

He could give thanks over inadequate bread before multiplication was visible.

Thanksgiving before visible resolution says:

I know who You are.

The boundary I would make explicit

I would absolutely include a section near the beginning or end called something like:

Same Vocabulary, Different Gospel

Hill, Goddard, Kenyon, and Christian Scripture can sometimes sound remarkably similar:

belief

faith

unseen reality

confession

imagination

expectation

inner state

words

persistence

assumption

But identical vocabulary does not guarantee identical theology.

The critical questions are:

Who is God?

Who is man?

What is the source of authority?

What makes something true?

What is faith’s object?

What is man’s fundamental problem?

What has Christ accomplished?

Goddard can make consciousness/imagination the causal center.

Hill can make definite desire + belief + subconscious programming central.

Some Word-of-Faith teaching can drift toward making faith itself a force or law which even God supposedly must obey.

Your emerging Christian framework is quite different:

God is the source.

Christ is the Truth.

The cross and resurrection are the accomplished work.

The Holy Spirit reveals and makes that truth experiential.

Faith receives and agrees.

The renewed mind learns to see from God’s perspective.

Speech agrees with what God says.

Feelings come into submission to truth.

Prayer maintains conscious union and communion.

Obedience acts from that reality.

God brings the outcome.

That is the framework.

And I think this sentence may actually be the backbone of the whole article:

Christian faith is not using spiritual principles to make my desired reality become true. It is becoming so persuaded of God’s reality that I learn to live from what He says is already true—even while my eyes are still telling me otherwise.

That takes almost everything valuable you’ve extracted from these messages while putting Christ—not consciousness, imagination, feeling, confession, or faith itself—at the center.

A reflection on stillness, speech, confession, and renewed thinking as ways of learning to rest in and agree with God’s truth.

[3,4
24,5,6,12,9,25,26,27

post-33","faithco_working_note","type-faithco_working_note","status-publish","hentry","category-faith-prayer","category-identity-union","tag-abiding","tag-confession","tag-faith","tag-prayer","tag-renewing-the-mind","tag-rest","tag-stillness","tag-truth
["GET
