Matthew 3:17 – “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

You are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.  I love you.  I am so proud of you.  Take my hand.  Let us walk through this storm together.  I will protect you.  I am building a testimony in you through this test.  Do not fear to hear my voice.  The end is at hand.  Have I the Lord not commanded you to stand still and see my salvation?  That I will fight this battle on your behalf?  Do no fear.  Expect more.  Raise your hopes.  Lift them higher.  I am coming – expect it.  Do not expect an eventual miracle – expect one today.  That I am not just working for you somewhere in the future, but that I am with you here today.  That today I am for you.  That today I am continuing to move the universe in your favor to bring you and your family to the outcome I have already determined beforehand.

Keep your eyes up. I am your help.  Men say, “what can be done?’  But I say that I have come that you might have abundance of life.  Nothing is impossible for me.  Increase your faith.  See yourself as I see you.  you are highly favored.  You are my beloved son.  I am pleased with you.  I have ordered your steps, and I am leading you into victory so that you may lead the captives to victory as well.  You are here for a purpose and a reason.  That you might see the great need of men for the good news.  Do not disqualify yourself.  Do not fear.  For I am preparing you for something greater through this trial.  I need to destroy fear in you in order for you to accomplish my plans and purposes.  Do not compare yourself to others and think less of the miracle I am about to do in your sight.  I have given you favor.  Do not think you have squandered it.

Remember my words to you.  “You cannot lose.”  What if what I am doing in you is what I did in Gideon?  Making the victory even more spectacular by hedging the odds against you in the natural?  Do not disqualify yourself from victory because of anything you have or have not done.  My promise is not dependent upon your performance.  It is dependent upon my nature.  My goodness.  My faithfulness.  I am good.  I the Lord have made a favorable declaration concerning you.  No one can stand in my presence and defy my words.  My words will come to pass.  Will you stand in faith and agree with me?  Will you believe?

For one growing up in church, they could get the idea that sanctification is a process. That one becomes holier the closer he adheres to God's law and commandments now that they have received the free gift of salvation. However, righteousness is completely free! It is available to us through the finished work of Christ. It is all His doing. All His work! None of our own, lest we should boast. This is good news!

Many may have issues with applying Matthew 3:17 to themselves. However, doesn’t scripture say that we’ve been made one with Him through His death and resurrection? Have we not joined ourselves to the Spirit of God? Doesn’t that make us one spirit with Him? Are we not in Him? Is He not in us? When God looks at us, does he not see us “in Christ?”

And if all of that is true, wouldn’t that make us “God’s beloved son/daughter in whom He is well pleased?” The Bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” Without faith it is impossible to even see yourself as pleasing to God. Because the only way that we can become pleasing in His sight is by faith. To by faith receive the gift of mercy and grace. To by faith receive Jesus as our propitiation – our substitute. To by faith believe that when He died on the cross – He didn’t just die for me – He died as me. The old me – the old man – the selfish me – died on the cross and was buried with Christ. And the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in me. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.

I am in Him and He is in me. By faith I’ve received this glorious gift. Not of my work. Jesus did everything for me, and proclaimed that “It Is Finished!” I didn’t earn it. I didn’t deserve it based upon my own performance. But yet, it was the Father’s good pleasure to give me the kingdom and call me His son. He’s given me the privilege of being known as a son of God.

I hear Him saying, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”
