Judges 6:10 – Also I said to you, “I am the Lord your God; do not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. BUT you have not obeyed my voice.”
If I am the Lord, why would you fear an inferior god? Why would you continue to fear the power of those who do not fear me? You have done wrong in this. You have given power to your enemy through your fear of them. But I the Lord have commanded you not to be afraid! Why would you regard the voice of a liar and deceiver over my own voice? Why would you even wonder if I the Lord would deceive you? Am I a man that I should lie? Do I deal deceitfully with the sons of men, or do I deal in truth?
Moreover, do I deal deceitfully with my own sons? Do you, a man, treat your sons so grievously? Do you, a man, promise good things to your children in order to deceive them by bringing evil into their lives? Who has charged you with such devious ways? Who would dare accuse and charge me of such evil? Yet, you my son have disobeyed me. You have feared other gods, and render me powerless in your mind to intervene. You mind has me in an alliance with my enemies against you – my son! It could never be so. I the Lord, am not a man. I do not lie. There is only truth on my lips. Deception is far from me and my ways.
I have revealed the remedy to the world. I have made it simple and clear – yet many have refused to accept it. Therefore, their sins are retained. Not by me, but by their own choosing. Believe my words in the face of your fear. Choose truth over emotions and see the salvation of your God!
