For one growing up in church, they could get the idea that sanctification is a process. That one becomes holier the closer he adheres to God's law and commandments now that they have received the free gift of salvation. However, righteousness is completely free! It is available to us through the finished work of Christ. It is all His doing. All His work! None of our own, lest we should boast. This is good news!

As I’ve been listening to this message again today, I’m reminded of how easy it is for us to neglect the gifts God has given us in our lives. One of the first things I’ve said in this message was how God had completely set me free from fear. The interesting thing is that when the God gives gifts to His children, the enemy goes into action to try and make them forget the wonderful things that they’ve received. This has happened in my own life. I have since this day in October of 2012 struggled with fear. 1 John says that “perfect love casts out fear.” How true it is that when we forget that God so loved us first, that He gave His only son, we so easily enter into fear. This is a good reminder for me today, that God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of peace, love and a sound mind.
